Sage Cement Tile Entry in Alhambra Triangle

Sage green and cream geometric circle-pattern cement tile at the front entry of an Alhambra Triangle infill home

About This Project

This infill townhome in Alhambra Triangle has a concrete slab entry. The homeowner chose a sage green and cream circle-pattern cement tile — a pattern that reads as both modern and historically appropriate for the neighborhood's Craftsman context.

Cement tile is porous and must be sealed before and after installation. We applied a penetrating sealer to the tile faces before grouting, then sealed again after the grout cured. Without this step, grout haze bonds permanently to the tile surface.

The pattern required precise layout to center the circle motif in the entry space. We dry-laid the full floor before any tile was set, confirming the pattern was centered on the front door axis.
